HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: To the students, just Mr Tesla is fine.
OCCUPATION: Ex-Hero, currently teacher and member of the Support teams.
PERSONALITY:
- Serious and inquisitive.
- As a teacher, tough but fair, but trusting of his students.
- Obsessed with science and the mysteries of the universe.
- Bit lax on procedures for the greater good. Eccentric in general.
- Always considered hero work to be sort of a side gig, more a moral duty than an actual career. Will undoubtedly try to convince bright students to do more with their lives than just punching villains.
- Suffers from more than a bit of OCD. And by more than a bit I mean "literally can't eat until he knows the exact volume of the food he eats".
- Largely pacifistic, though generally in the "rather flexible view of pacifism shonen often has" way.
HISTORY: An important history note is that Mr Tesla, being old, was born before Hero work became quite as regulated and accepted as a fact of life as it is now, and most of his heroic deeds happened during the Dark Age of society that the manga talks about. Consequently, he's not quite as well known as some of the more recent heroes.
For the rest, it's actually not terribly hard to get AR!Tesla to fit in MHA, so there's very little history modification needed. I imagine he was offered a post as a science teacher in UA and came to Japan for it some years ago, since he's, you know, from Austria, so his Japanese is probably still a bit odd in places.
QUIRK: Telluric Generator
Tesla's Quirk is actually not that impressive by itself. Basically, his body is a powerful electric generator, which creates and stores an enormous amount of electric current just under his highly insulating skin. As the "Telluric" in the name indicates, he's basically creating energy as long as he's touching the ground, through a weird physical phenomenon, and stores it like a battery for the times when he isn't. Unsurprisingly, he prefers ground-floor housing.
Thing is, and this is the important bit, he has no natural way to make use of it (well, he could, theorethically, cut himself deeply and try to press the cut area to an enemy, but generally speaking any plan that starts with "severely wound yourself" is not really a good plan, and even less now that he's over 70).
It's a good thing, then, than he's also more or less the best physicist to be born in two centuries. Tesla was a gadgeteer hero, using his unending energy supply to power all sorts of scifi shit like lightning guns and telluric armors and a death ray that one time but he melted it down afterwards we swear he's not a villain there were extenuating circumstances.
COSTUME: As mentioned, Tesla's inventions are his actual powers. His old heroing costume was his Telluric Suit, which allows him to fly for short bursts, shoot lightning out of his hands, and project magnetic shields strong enough to stop bullets. Currently, he's retired, and just a teacher and engineer, but the suit is still in the wardrobe, just in case. (I expect that if Kaminari ever finds out about who the Physics teacher is, he'll start pestering him for costume upgrades :P) I genuinely expect him to get in very few fights though, being a teacher in a support role, so I dunno how worth the effort it might be to nail specifics here?
